The  beach is a nesting site of sea turtle Caretta Caretta. Fishermen reported the observation of seals in the facing small island of Xtenia and Strongilo. Rhodes mammals include Hedgehogs (Erinaceus europeus) Foxes (vulpes vulpes) Beach martens (Martes foina) Hares (Lepus europaeus). The Fallow deers (Dama Dama) has been recently reintroduced and spread in the South. Diurnal and nocturnal raptors such as kestrel, Eleanora’s falcon, booted eagle, barn and scops owl have often been observed  in the area, as well as the giant grasshopper Saga rhodiensis and other insects.The botanical surveys showed the presence of forest (Cupressus sempervirens, Pinus brutia, Pinuls halep, etc) maquis (Arbutus andrachne, Erica arborea, Quercus coccifera), phrygana (Thymus capitatus, Erica manipulifloira, Cistus sp, etc). Wetlands and shifting dunes are characterised by the presence of Othantus maritime, Limonium sp, Medicago sp, Juniperus shrubs and trees, Pistacia lentiscus etc
